In this condition, you have to widen the chart area if you need the labels wrapping in the axis. Note: If the chart area is still too narrow to show all wrapped labels, the labels will keep rotated and slanted. Then you will see labels are wrapped automatically in the chart axis. Add hard returns to other label cells which you want the labels wrapped in the chart axis. Add a hard return or carriages with pressing the Alt + Enter keys simultaneously.ģ. Double click a label cell, and put the cursor at the place where you will break the label.Ģ. I can't make this part superscript again because when I'm in chart and go to 'format axis' you only have the option to make the entire label superscript. We can wrap the labels in the label cells, and then the labels in the chart axis will wrap automatically. This puts the contents of these cells as the labels for X axis BUT the -1 is no longer superscript - its normal size, even though it is superscript in the cells. In the 'source data' page I choose 'series' (not data range) and when I add a series I go to the collapse dialog box in 'Category (X) axis labels' and highlight cells 1A, 1B etc. I then click on 'chart wizard' and select chart type - column. So now I have '-1' in superscript and the rest of the typing in normal size. Then I highlight '-1', right click, select 'format cell' and tick superscript. Heres what I'm doing in a bit more detail - I type in 1A '2 mg kg-1' in 1B '3 mg kg-1' etc and put my data in row 2. Hi - thanks for your help - but I can't get it to work!! when I highlight '-1' in the spreadsheet and right click, the only format option I get is 'format cell'.
